Tiger Woods: I’m Sorry That I Got Caught

I found a few minutes this morning to get away and listen to the press conference.  This was the biggest news story since man supposedly landed on the moon.    And yes Tiger is sorry.  He apologized to his Wife, his kids, his corporate sponsors, his fans, his newspaperboy and to TMZ for making the press conference so early in the morning.  Once again as I have said in my past posts “WHY SHOULD WE GIVE A FLYING FIG?”

Well I’ll tell you why we should care because we don’t have to hear about Haiti anymore and ABC “NEWS” can devote 1 hour of prime time to a 10 minute press conference.  Who cares about hundreds of thousands of dead Haitian now we can concentrate on what really matter: Celebrity Shame.  So now we can gather ’round the water cooler and discuss his public shame and point at the giant crimson A on his shirt.

So now we heard a statement written by everybody but Tiger and we have seen him mope his head.   And we noticed that his wife is nowhere near him.  So what does all this mean?   WE SHOULDNT WE GIVE A FLYING FIG.

Can’t Tiger Keep it in His Pants???

I was watching CNN again and I think I am going to say it: “24 Hour News Station does not mean 24 hours of gossip.”  The final straw for me was Larry king and listening to Donald Trump speak about the incident and Charles Barkley giving his 2 cents. It is enough!!!!!  Tiger cheated on his wife but that is no reason to devote an hour of network time to interviewing people who met Tiger Woods and asking them what they would do if they were in Tiger’s shoes.

There was an awful DVD that came out years ago called Tupac:Words Never Die.  It was a documentary interviewing people who met Tupac.  These people included a bouncer at a club and a woman he tried to hit on.  The Larry King interview with all these celebrities made me think of the DVD and how pointless theses interviews are.  How can Donald Trump give an interview about cheating on a wife….. bad example.

The story is nothing unusual in the sports world.  Baseball players have had a different woman in every city.  Soccer stars have had affairs too.  Can CNN go back to what it does best which is report the news no matter how little we appreciate it.

Woman rushed to hospital from Tiger Woods’ house

Elin Nordegren on a stretcher?

This is getting a little ridiculous now.  Nothing ever good happens at Tigers house at 2 in the morning (unless you happen to work for TMZ or CNN).  The media is going crazy reporting another non-story.  Once again my nose for news informs me that this story has more to do with the hundreds of media outlets hanging around outside the Woods’ home rather than anything else.  Christmas may not be good for Tiger and Elin this year but CNN has hours to fill up now.  “Who is the woman on the stretcher?”  “Is it Tiger’s wife?”  “Is it his mother-in-law?”  “Is it Elin’s twin-sister?”  Or  “Is it another Tiger bimbo?”

There are children missing in the world.  There is a war in Iraq and Afghanistan.  There are people dying from various causes but CNN can fill 15 miniutes each and every hour with a story about Tiger.

Tiger Woods’ Fatal Attraction

Tiger and his wife

Tiger and his wife

On Tiger Woods’ website he made an apology.    He said he did a bad bad thing.  He indicated he may have cheated.  This horrified me to think another star athlete has cheated just like Mark McGuire (supposedly),  Tim Montgomery, and the Iron Sheik.

How could a man, who I admired and emulated, do this to me?  How could Tiger, the greatest golfer in the history of mankind, do such a thing?  How could he disrespect the game the way that he did?  Oh wait he didn’t disrespect the game.  Tiger the Golfer did not cheat in golf but on his wife.  He disrespected his wife and family.  And this affects me how????

If it wasn’t for poor and reckless driving (it’s hard to drive with a golf club swinging at your windshield), we would have never been the wiser (unless one of these bimbos decided to sell their story).  This whole incident would have been behind closed doors.  I learned a long, long time ago that the people you see in public are different than the people they are outside the public eye.  I can tell you of a story about an actor who appeared on the Tonight Show, telling how he cleaned up his act and no longer was drinking or doing drugs and the week following that he was with me asking me to score a couple of grams for him.  I could also tell you of a newlywed musician who appeared on Entertainment Tonight talking about his new wife and how happy he was and the next week he was thanking a buddy for getting him a virgin the night before at the recording studio.

I am not sure Tiger needed to apologize to me but that was his choice.  My choice is to realize that Tiger the Golfer is who I admire and not Tiger the Man and that is your choice too I guess.
